Snappy Days 04/26/2010
So, how did these crazy kids get to know each other, in the first place? Lo these many years ago, Bonnie was dancing away, in Boston's very own Snappy Dance Theater. She traveled the country, creating and performing lovely pieces such as... Pants (where she played both parts of a dancing-lesson duet)... Spring Collection (where she was hung from her friend Sean Kilbridge's shoulders, counterbalanced by the lovely Bess Whitesel)... Mirabile Dictu (with company founder Martha Mason) and many, many others. One day, a lanky Tufts student named Tim Gallagher joined the company. The two clicked right away, onstage and off. Before long, they were studying partner acrobatics on their own, up in Brattleboro, Vermont, bringing new moves and ideas back to the Snappy fold. For the opening of Lumen, for example [pic below]...I (Secret Agent Informant Dan) really can not do justice to that one with words. If you saw it, you know what I'm talking about. If you didn't, I'll just say that it was *awe* *some*. Snappy was a great run -- they performed all over the country, traveled to Japan, Russia, Bermuda, and the south of France. 'lo there, Dan Milstein here---aka Secret Agent Informant Numero Uno, aka founder of Rough & Tumble Theater aka Bonnie's main squeeze. In anticipation of The Agents rock-star awesome Boston shows, we're starting a series of blog posts with some pics of them in action, from the hither and also from the yon. Okay, so let's start with this photo: What is the up with that, you say? Here's the scoop: once up a time, Bonnie & Tim were invited to join up with Rough & Tumble Theater, to create an original show (which is what Rough & Tumble does). The result was Hinterlands (from which, more pics soon...). One Jane Marsching, a Boston-based artist, saw the show, and contacted Bonnie and Tim afterwards, to see about working with them on some images she was creating. A long afternoon of shooting + some visionary work by Ms. Marsching, resulted in that pic, which was featured in a show called Arctic Listening Post, at Boston's Institute for Contemporary Art: ![]() Leslie Goodyear, Secret Agent Inner Circle Council Member Also, The Agents got some amazing shots from that afternoon, which she graciously allowed them to use for themselves: Enjoy, let us know what you think, ask questions in the comments...
