Recent Residency: Imagined Lands: Creating Play Spaces Collaboratively
Boston Teachers Union School, Jamaica Plain, MA
K-1 classroom, November 2013-May 2014
Following a performance of Squirrel Stole My Underpants, Bonnie built 4 “Imagined Lands” play spaces in the K-1 classroom over the course of the school year. She collaborated with students to design, build, and play in the spaces. In between artist visits, students used the space as part of their learning, guided by their classroom teacher. Students created Outer Space, Cardboard City, Rainbow Land, and Mo Willems' World: Don't let the kids draw on the wall!

I thought there was going to be a laugh riot in my classroom when I told the students the name of the play! Then my students saw the show and the laughing and amazement continued. Bonnie's puppets, music, and story-telling ability had all my students fully engaged and talking about the show long after it was over.
