Our Current Show: Poste Restante
A madly inventive mix of acrobatics, paper, laughter, dance, flight, puppetry, longing, and film...all stuffed neatly into a box.
What will The Secret Agents do with an anonymous package, cardboard box bikinis, a few handwritten letters, a bicycle with wings, and one mysterious vinyl record? Could it possibly involve inanimate object domination, acrobatic knots, full-throttle origami and a cocoa pop?
BEST OF THE FRINGE & BEST PHYSICAL COMEDY
San Francisco Fringe Festival
AUDIENCES RAVE!
Poste restante is "both visually stunning and emotionally moving", "whimsical and profound at the same time."
Prague Post called Poste Restante "Infectious...inspired choreography that is so stark and evocative. This crowd pleaser is not to be missed."
HIGHLIGHTS:
"Return to Sender" Tim attempts to stuff Bonnie in a box and mail her.
"Air Mail" A stop-motion animation tracks the delivery of a love letter via origami postal bird.
“The Last Mile” Bonnie and Tim struggle with distance and awkwardness as they dance impossibly close.
"By Lamplight" A sentimental table lamp prods Bonnie into responding to a love letter.
Poste Restante brings communication down from a high-tech, instant, "now, now, now" process to a more tangible, visceral level where letters and boxes travel through real space and time, and survive countless potential mishaps along the way.
Bonnie Duncan and Tim Gallagher use puppetry, film and partner acrobatics to explore the magic surrounding hand written letters, challenge what can actually be mailed, animate sent letters, and generally bring to life a form of communication that is slowly fading.
